27 Mar 0829 Jun 08 Jess to headline the Clarence Park Festival 2008 It has been a busy year already for Jess, but some news just in is that Jess has been asked to headline The Clarence Park Festival 2008, with her band. It is to be held on Sunday 27th July 2008 at Clarence Park, Wakefied, Yorkshire. Get yourself down there for a great day of music with Jess performing to round of the two day festival. 02 May 08 US and Canada mini-tour Jess had a wonderful time across the Pond and played gigs in Nashville, New York City, Toronto, Burlington, Guelph and Oakville. The response was brilliant, particularly at Manhattan's (Oakville) on her last Saturday night there - some people had travelled for hours to come to see her and the place was completely booked up. She also met several interested publishers in Nashville, both indies and major labels, who have all invited her to co-write with their own signed writers next time she visits. It won't be long before she's back there, that's for sure. Jess performing at Brighton Pride 2008 and more dates added More tour dates have been added, with some more to come, but in the meantime Jess has been confirmed for Brighton Pride 2008 (2nd Aug) and some more Huddersfield and London dates added. See the gigs page or details. 07 Apr 08 Jess appearing on City Centre Social, Channel M TV Jess is performing a session and being interviewed on the Manchester SKY TV channel M, on the City Centre Social programme. It will be on 21st May 2008, full details to follow. You can watch it on Sky channel 203. BBC Radio sessions and interviews - May 15th and 25th Jess is performing with her band and being interviewed on BBC Radio York on Matt Seymour's More Raw evening programme, Thursday 15th May. She is then performing acoustically and being interviewed on BBC Radio Leeds and Humberside, on the Sunday evening, 25th May. Tune in to BBC RAdio Humberside 95.6 DAB or BBC Radio Leeds DAB. Live & Unsigned 2008 Jess would like to say thank you to all the people who came to support her at the regional final of Live & Unsigned in Manchester on 6th April. Jess performed her new song "Devil on my Shoulder", with her band backing her. The judges chose a rapper duo to go through to the national final (... a rapper/singer duo won last year too) and another band got through after the audience vote was added (rumour has it they had 130 'fans' there to support them). Jess is really pleased with her band's performance and, even though her style wasn't what the label manager was looking for, her supporters all agreed she has entered a new phase with her funky band music and exciting things are around the corner! BBC Radio 2 New Songwriters Showcase - London Jess has been asked to perform at a showcase for the BBC Radio 2 New Talent songwriters masterclass. This will be held in London in May. Details to follow once confirmed. DIVA Magazine feature Jess is to be featured in an upcoming DIVA Magazine issue, which is focusing on music. With a national readership of over 140,000 Jess is very pleased to be given the opportunity to appear in this glossy mag. Once we know the exact issue and publication date we will post the details on here. 12 Mar 08 Minster FM Radio interview and session - Thurs 27th, 6.30pm. Minster FM are broadcasting an interview and an acoustic performance of 'Caught Out' during the DriveTime show. The session will be broadcast just after 6.30pm. She'll be talking about her recent musical successes and plans for 2008. 25 Feb 08 Live and Unsigned 2008 - Jess is through to Regional Final After the regional semi-final in Manchester last night, with an extremely high level of talent, Jess made it through to the regional final on April 6th. Jess performed Caught Out and was the only solo female singer to go through, alongside two male solo singers and four bands. The final is at 6.15pm on Sunday April 6th at The Willows Variety Centre, Salford. Tickets are £7.50 each so if you'd like to come along and support Jess (the audience gets a vote too) then send an email (see the 'contact' page) to Jess. Jess is organising transport from York and back (costing £15-£20 return, depending on numbers) with the option to travel back straight after the gig (approx 10pm) or at a later time after seeing a bit of the Manchester night life (approx 2.30am). See full details about the competition here. 25 Jan 08 Album review in Acoustic Magazine Jess's debut album, Beyond Belief, has been reviewed in Acoustic Magazine, issue 20. She has beaten off stiff competition to get a review in this magazine and the review is very favourable with the reviewer, Brett Callwood, saying her recording provides him with "some of the best soul vocals heard by these ears in recent years". Click here for the magazine website. 16 Jan 08 Jess selected as finalist for the BBC Radio 2 New Songwriter Academy Jess has beaten off stiff competition from across the UK to be selected as one of 60 finalists in the BBC Radio 2 search for new talent. Over 3,000 people applied. Jess will be attending a two day masterclass in February, after which 4 people will be selected to be mentored by a leading UK songwriter. Jess hopes the experience will help her to further develop her songwriting and make some important contacts within the music industry and broadcasting.  15 Jan 08 Jess on Radio North Yorkshire - 2nd Mar Jess will be doing an interview and live session on Radio North Yorkshire on Sunday 2nd March. Full details, including broadcast time, will be on here soon. Jess and her band returns to Fibbers Barfly - tickets now on sale Following her highly successful and enjoyable headline gig at Fibbers in October, Jess has been booked to return with her band on Friday 21st March. The evening will see an even bigger line-up than last time and will include some brand new material. Andy Curry will be providing support with his new band. Tickets onsale via Fibbers or Ticketweb at £5 in advance. 2007 02 Dec 07 Jess through to regional semi-finals of the national Live and Unsigned competition Jess has got through the first round of the Live and Unsigned competition, a national competition to find the best singers and bands from across the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity for Jess to perform in front of industry experts and compete for the chance to win a £20,000 record deal with a prominent UK label. The semi-finals are being held in Manchester on Sunday 24th February 2008 and Jess has 30 tickets to sell at £6 each, so drop her an email if you would like to come along. There will be an audience vote element (in case the judges are 'tied') so your support would be great. We'll keep you updated..! Further information at the competition's website. Email to request tickets. 30 Oct 07 Jess triumphs at Fibbers with her new band! Friday 26th October saw amazing headline for Jess at Fibbers Barfly, in York. The venue was packed and the atmosphere was great. Another Fibbers headine has been booked in for next year to kick of her second UK tour an before she heads off to Canada and US in April. Details will be announced in the new year. Check back for photos and video from the gig to be uploaded soon. The videos include what was shown on on ITV1 Yorkshire in August, when Jess performed Followed You Home. 2008 Tour Update Plans for the next tour are taking shape and dates will be announced in the New Year. Venues include those where Jess enjoyed performing this year, like Green Note in London and The Madhouse in Rosliston, and some new venues such as the 2,000 seater St David's Hall in Cardiff with Freshly Squeezed events. If you haven't already done so, join the mailing list to be kept up to date about gig dates, releases, videos and lots more. 02 Sep 07 Canada and US 2008 Tour! Jess is planning to tour Canada and the US from early March to early April 2008. She has some important music industry contacts and is going out during Canada Music Week and performing at venues across Canada and the US. Exact gig details will be posted after Christmas. New residency at Pitcher and Piano, York Jess is adding another residency to her York gigs at Pitcher and Piano on Sunday evenings. Jess will also be including guest musicans, including her bassist or her percussionist, occasionally. Details will appear on the gigs list. Upload Festival Showcase, Sunday 15th, Parliament Street Jess is performing as part of the Upload Festival in York on Sunday 15th September at 8.30pm-9pm. Come along and enjoy some free music! 02 Aug 07 Jess will feature on ITV1 on SUNDAY 5th AUGUST at approx 6.20pm As promised, here are the details for Jess's TV appearance. She is being featured on the 6pm regional news entertainment section on Sunday 5th August, They are showing a live performance and a short interview. Jess performed Followed You Home for the camera so tune in if you can. 30 July 07 Huddersfield Pink Picnic and Ladyfringe Jess would like to say how wonderful the gig was performing for the thousands of people wo turned out for the fantastic Pink Picnic on Castle hill in Huddersfield. That event was very successful and the weather stayed fine. If you missed out on buying a CD or getting on the emailing list just email Jess for details. The gig at the Lawrence Batley Theatre on the Saturday night was also very successful and Jess is returning there on 21st Sep for 'Sound Women' with Clare Mooney, sure to be another great night! Green Note Cafe, 26th July, London This gig was a fantastc evening for Jess and she would like to say thank you to Greymatter for such an enjoyable evening listening to them perform. Jess and Greymatter will be both be performing at Reading Pride in September and other joint gigs are also in the pipeline for the future. 24 July 07 Clarence Park Festival, 21st July, Wakefield Jess would like to apologise to anyone who was disappointed when Jess did not perform at the event at 4.20pm, as advertised. Unfortunately, the event was running an hour late and Jess had gig commitments that evening which meant she was unable to wait around and had not be warned that the event was running late in advance to allow her to rearrange things. Hopefully you'll be able to catch up with Jess at another gig soon. Jess on ITV - UPDATED Jess is filming this week and the item will be shown in the coming weeks (see below for original news item). More details will be posted here once known. UPDATE>>> The item ill be shown on ITV1's Calendar News on Thursday 2nd August or Thursday 9th August, so keep your eyes peeled. Jess performed her popular song Followed You Home. 18 Jul 07 Band launch at Fibbers, Fri 26th October - Tickets on sale now Jess has booked her first headline at Fibbers, on Stonebow, in York. The gig will take place at the start of the YLAF weekend and will see the official launch of her new band line up. Jess will be showcasing her favourite tracks from her album plus some new material she has been working on. There will be support from Izzy Isgate and one other act to be confirmed. This promises to be a fantastc night for music lovers and is a rare opportunity to see Jess and her band in a local headline before continuing her UK tour. Tickets are available now at £5 and can be booked direct with the venue or online at www.fibbers.co.uk or www.ticketweb.co.uk. Book early to avoid disappointment. 15 Jun 07 Jess to appear on ITV1 ITV1 are shooting a live session with Jess this month, which will be broadcast across the region on Thursday July 5th in th entertainments section of Calendar News. >>> Update on 29/6: the filming has been rescheduled so the date of broadcast will be posted on here as soon as it's known. Jess appearing at Clarence Park Festival, Wakefield Jess has beaten off stiff competition to be selected as an act for the acoustic stage at the Clarence Park Festival in Wakefield. She will be showcasing songs from her current album from on Saturday 21st July, 4.20-4.50pm. Website link and further details on here soon. Check back in the future to get downloading. 7 Jun 07 Jess in the Press: Talk Magazine Look out for Jess in the July issue of The Talk Magazine, including a review of her debut album, Beyond Belief. 28 May 07 Record label details Jess is setting up her own independent record label called JG Records. This will allow Jess to pursue her own distribution contracts to enable CDs to be available nationwide for all those who miss her at her long list of tour dates. 18 May 07 Jess in 'York Live' - Minster FM and Live Gigs Jess is performing on Saturday 26/5 afternoon and Sunday 27/5 evening for part of York Live (see gigs page for details) and is doing a live session on Minster FM for UK Music Week. CDs for Sale in Virgin Megastore Jess's album is on sale in Virgin Megastore, York for £10 each. More stores will be announced soon. 13 May 07 Debut album Beyond Belief has arrived!!!! Jess lanched her album at The Living Room, York, on Saturday 12th May to over 200 people packing out the bar. The bar was closed to the public for this invite only event with a VIP champagne reception and a performance of the album tracks by Jess with a full band backing made up of Rob Van Sante (Guitar), Charlie Daykim (Keys), Steve O'Gallagher (Drums) and Richard Halbert (Bass guitar). The atmosphere was fantastic and Jess sold many CDs. Jess splashed out on champagne and canapes for her guests to create a memorable evening for everyone and to say thank you to those who have supported her over the past few years. For anyone who was unable to get tickets fo the launch and would like to see Jess she has many gigs in York and around the UK and CDs can be bought online by emaling her at the link above or check back soon for a list of shops that will stock her CD. 5 Apr 07 First UK tour dates announced Jess has released the first dates for her national tour, which includes several dates at the stylish Living Room bar and restaurant in cities from Edinburgh to London. Jess would like to thank Living Ventures for their support. Other dates include Huddersfield, Scarborough, London and more to come - check back for updates or join the mailing list by emailing Jess at the link above. 31 Mar 07 Album Launch: 12th May at The Living Room Jess will be launching her album and music video on 12th May at the Living Room. Jess has been playing at the Living Room in York since it opened in 2004 and they are keen to support Jess. She will also be touring and coming to a Living Room near you in May, June and July. The launch is invite only, so if you know Jess or have been following her and are keen to come then get in touch asap as space is getting limited. Jess will be touring to promote the album soon after and performances will take herall over the country from Devon to London to Cambridge to Scotland. Some dates have been announced on the gigs page but more will follow over the next couple of weeks once finalised. 'Beyond Belief' debut album realeased on 14th May You can preorder your copy by emailing Jess or catch her at a gig from 14th May. Details of which shops will be selling her album will be added on here shortly. The album will have at least 12 tracks, with full production and arrangement, plus a bonus copy of the music video for Caught Out, which is being filmed in April. 7 Mar 07 Jess album launch date - May 2007 The album launch for 'Beyond Belief' is being planned for early May. The launch will include a performance of songs from her album, drinks and nibbles, and even the unveiling of her new video.. Jess to make a video for 'Caught Out' Plans are underway for Jess's first music video, professionally filmed by award-winning director, Abbe Robinson. It is hope it will be ready for the album launch and will be a bonus DVD for all who get her album in May and June Update: Jess will be filming this later in the year. Jess touring Canada in 2007 In an exciting development, Jess is in talks that could see her going over to Canada later this year! More news as we have it! 2 Feb 07 Jess on the radio.. again Jess will be doing a live session and interview for BBC raw talent during the evening of Thursday 5th April between 7pm and 9pm. 'Private Life' wins the Planet Out international film award. This is very exciting news and means the film Jess took part in during April 2006 has scooped the top award in America's Planet Out film festival. Jess's face is being seen around the world on the big screen! This is very good news for this short film by director Abbe Robinson and producer Maria Pavlou's, and who knows where it will lead...? New forum launched - 'Jesstalk' A new forum has been launched where you can sign up and chat about all things 'jess'... Jess will make an appearance to answer questions and also run the occasional competition for guestlist entry to one of the exciting gigs she has lined up later this year. We hope to get the buzz going over the rest of the year so get yourself signed up and get chatting! New regular Leeds gig at Leeds United FC, Billy's Bar Jess will be performing regularly at the new Leeds United FC bar, Billy's Bar after a successful first gig on Friday 26th Jan. See gig listings for info but so far she has been booked for Friday 9th Feb and 9th March. The space is great for music - very open and can fit in a lot of people! If you're in Leeds and can make it along to one of those dates you'll be treated to a mixture of Jess's original songs and some covers. 5 Jan 07 Jess on the Radio Jess has done an interview with BBC radio leeds (92.4FM Digital Radio or online at www.bbc.co.uk/leeds) to be broadcast on Monday evening (8th Jan) between 7pm and 9pm. She performs two songs; Knockin in Wood and Caught Out from her forthcoming debut album 'Beyond Belief'.
